Product Stewardship: Minimizing our Ecological Footprint
Mary Kay Inc. is dedicated to product stewardship through three focus areas.
Responsible sourcing of packaging materials: We consider the full packaging life cycle, aiming to minimize resource use, prioritizing materials that can be easily and widely recycled,[1] and exploring opportunities for post-consumer recycled materials.
Sustainable sourcing of ingredients: We help strengthen supply chain resilience, empower smallholder farmers and local communities, and build trust with consumers and regulators.Support for ecosystem restoration: We support the restoration of damaged or threatened ecosystems by partnering with global organizations such as the Global Shea Alliance (GSA) and the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

Resource Conservation: Preserving Forests and Biodiversity
We are dedicated to protecting biodiversity and supporting responsible forestry in a variety of ways, including:
Prioritizing the use of sustainable paper sources for product cartons and paper inserts, distribution cases and shipping boxes.
Supporting international nongovernmental organizations such as the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests.
Striving to reduce our carbon footprint. By evolving our operations and investing in renewable energy and technologies.

Water Sustainability: Managing our Water Footprint
Water, a fundamental and precious resource, is crucial to Mary Kay’s manufacturing process, and therefore is at the center of our sustainability efforts. As a global advocate for water stewardship, we focus on:
Water-use reduction: We reduce water use at our R&D and manufacturing facilities in Lewisville, Texas, and Hangzhou, China.
Water stewardship innovation: We develop innovative solutions to reuse water and improve efficiency.
Partnership for conservation: We partner with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), building on 39 years of collaboration to support wetlands conservation, habitat preservation and ocean health.
