Caring for Our Planet
As a global manufacturer and distributor of consumer goods, we know the importance of making smart decisions to conserve and revitalize our natural resources. As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability we are constantly evaluating the impact we have on the planet and ways we can preserve it for the future.

Product Stewardship: Minimizing our Ecological Footprint
Mary Kay Inc. is dedicated to product stewardship with a dual focus on Sustainable Sourcing & Packaging Materials.
Sustainable Sourcing: Sustainably sourcing our ingredients and supporting restoration efforts of damaged or threatened ecosystems led by global organizations such as Global Shea Alliance (GSA) or the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). As of 2024, 93% of our palm oil use is certified sustainable palm oil and 80% of our shea use was sourced from GSA-member suppliers.
Packaging Materials: Considering our entire packaging life cycle while minimizing resource use and exploring opportunities for post-consumer recycled materials. In 2024, we reaffirmed our commitments to reducing plastic intensity, increase post-consumer recycled content (PCR), and increase recycle-ready/recyclable packaging. For example, the bottle of Mary Kay TimeWise® Targeted-Action® Toning Lotion contains 94% PCR content.
Resource Conservation: Preserving Forests and Biodiversity
We are dedicated to protecting biodiversity and supporting responsible forestry in a variety of ways, including: using sustainable paper sources for product cartons and paper inserts, distribution cases and shipping boxes; certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC); and planting trees around the world with Arbor Day Foundation (ADF) since 2008.
Sustainable paper sources: In 2024, the Mary Kay Print Shop celebrated its renewal of certification from the FSC. Mary Kay is committed to supporting responsible forestry by using certified sustainable paper sources for paper inserts, cartons, distribution cases and shipping boxes. By 2030, 90% of our product cartons will be certified sustainable sources.
Preserving forests: Through our partnership with Arbor Day Foundation, Mary Kay is making a positive environmental impact in ecosystems where we operate around the world. Since 2008, we have planted over 1.4 million trees globally through 34 projects.

Water Sustainability: Managing our Water Footprint
Water, a fundamental and precious resource, is crucial to Mary Kay’s manufacturing process and therefore is at the center of our sustainability efforts. As a global advocate for water stewardship, we are reducing water utilization and partnering to support wetlands conservation, ocean health and coral reef awareness worldwide.
Reducing water utilization: 100% of the water used at our manufacturing facility in Lewisville, Texas, is treated and recycled back into the local watershed. In 2024, we had a 65% reduction of water usage for product operations at our Richard R. Rogers global manufacturing facility.
Water Conservation: We are proud to partner with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) for 37 years to support projects and initiatives tackling wetlands conservation, ocean health and coral reef awareness worldwide. Additionally, Mary Kay is a signatory to two crucial causes addressing global water challenges through corporate water stewardship: the CEO Water Mandate and the United Nations Global Compact’s Sustainable Ocean Principles.
